The Real King

Do you have high confidence in the world’s leaders? We have reason for concern! All the flaws of humanity are reflected in today’s rulers. Yet God’s Word gives us reason for hope—for the good news is that there is now a truly righteous King who reigns above all, and in whom we can find a genuinely bright future.

Christ is on the throne! But unlike many of the world’s rulers, Christ does not impose his rule. We are given the freedom to choose where our allegiance will lie. Today it is common that even people who “believe in Jesus” will actually give their highest devotion to something else—to career advancement or the quest for wealth, or to a political party or some ideology. But if we truly acclaim Jesus as King, it means that we lift our highest loyalty to Christ, and let our values, our priorities, and our actions be shaped by Christ! Then the reign of His Kingdom begins to take hold in the world through us, and we know that we have in Him a glorious and eternal destiny.

The Bible declares that Jesus Christ is “the King of kings and Lord of lords.” (Revelation 19:16) So we can in fact have high confidence in the future—when we lift our faith to the real King.
