You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:36–40

When our outstanding Bishop was here a few weeks ago this is the scripture she used to bring a powerful message.

During this fall Tom and I have each had some major surgery as well as other family issues, and we have seen first hand how our congregation lives Jesus’ powerful reminder of the two most important commandments. We so appreciate the love we feel every time someone sends a get well or thinking of you card. Phone calls and visits have been welcomed as well as the altar flowers and the Rebecca Circle quilt. We even received a dinner invitation on Thanksgiving from an awesome couple who were also going to be alone that day.

It never hurts to hear this message over and over again, but we can tell the Bishop that the Kent United Methodist Church lives it every day!

We both thank you all!

Thought for the Day: “Our Purpose Is Love”

Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank you for the love of our church and pray your blessings return to those who bless others. Amen
