Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early and the late rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
James 5:7–8
The scripture tells me to stop, to take a deep breath, and to slowly expel the air from my lungs. If you have watched the Sanctuary choir on Sunday, you see that we begin our rehearsal with stretches and breathing exercises that help us to sing. The scripture also tells us to be patient, to establish our hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
This scripture speaks to me on many levels this year because life as I have known it, is changing. I have spent my entire life on or near one particular corner in town, and in the very near future, I will move to another place. In a new home I will establish my heart and wait for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient for the coming of the Lord.
Thought for the Day: Be patient, the coming of the Lord is at hand.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for giving me the patience to wait for the coming of Christ.
