Our focus this week in Crisis Counsels is this verse in the book of the prophet Isaiah:
Fear not, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
After the initial affirmation that we need not fear because God is with us, the verse continues with God’s promise, “I will strengthen you.” The idea that our real strength comes from God is an enormous theme throughout the Bible. Often, of course, we tend to rely on our own strength when confronting the issues of life, only to find that some obstacles and threats are far greater than we can manage. But we find the answer when we look to God, who will give us the strength to meet any challenge. As Paul would later say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
