Crisis Counsels from the Scriptures #37

Today we come to the conclusion of Psalm 3, a psalm written by King David after he had fled from Jerusalem during Absalom’s rebellion.  In the psalm, David trusts in God for protection and help.  He concludes by saying,

Deliverance belongs to the Lord; may your blessing be on your people!

Psalm 3:8

One of the notable features of this psalm is that David affirms God’s deliverance long before deliverance happens!   There would be a passage of time and considerable struggle before David would emerge victorious.  The psalm thus speaks to our present circumstances, when we know that much time will pass, and there will still be much struggle ahead, before we emerge from this pandemic.   Yet we can be confident in God!   We know that God is at work to help and bless us.   As we face this crisis, and as we face each of life’s challenges, we can join with David in trusting God, with the assurance that we will experience God’s delivering power.

Prayer – O Lord, in You we find true deliverance from trouble; lead us as we put our trust in You. Share on X
