Crisis Counsels from the Scriptures #34

Our focus this week in Crisis Counsels is Psalm 3, which was written by King David when he was forced to flee from Jerusalem during the rebellion of Absalom. David was in dire circumstances, but in the Psalm he says,

But you, O Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. I cry aloud to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy hill.

Psalm 3:3–4

David is threatened by an overwhelming force, but he looks to God as his “shield.” He calls to God; and although deliverance is not immediate, he experiences God’s “answer,” as he knows that God is with him and that God will help.In these challenging and threatening times, we likewise can know that God is our shield and strength. We are encouraged to call to the Lord in faith. It may take time for deliverance to unfold, but we can have confidence that God will surely answer.

Prayer – We praise you, O God; You are the one who lifts us up. Share on X
