Nursery Care

Infant Care

We have infant child care in our crib room throughout the 9:30 Sunday School hour and the 10:30 worship hour. We have up-to-date cribs, plus a soft area for crawlers.

Toddlers

Once a child begins to walk, he or she is ready for the "toddlers." These children go to a room that has numerous toys and lots of space for the active child.

Two Year Olds

Children who are two by the end of September enter the two-year-old class for that year. This class marks the transition from nursery care into Sunday School, as the teachers introduce children to foundational Christian beliefs and behaviors. The two-year-old class takes place during the 10:30 hour, and there is child care for two-year-olds in an activity room during the 9:30 hour.

The Paging System

Parents who bring their infants to the Crib Room or the Crawlers Room receive a silent vibrating pager, which gives caregivers the ability to discreetly contact parents anywhere in the building. The pagers give parents an added level of confidence -- knowing that they can be contacted at any time if their child has a need -- and they act as a safeguard against the wrong person picking up a child, since only the person with the pager that matches a child is able to take the child from the nursery.

Safety

Because children's safety is of the utmost importance, our nursery caregivers follow these procedures:

• "Universal precautions" are followed to prevent any contact of body fluids between individuals. Careful procedures are followed when diapers are changed.
• Rubber toys are washed between each use and are not exchanged between cribs. Some parents bring their own toys for children.
• The cribs and all equipment are of a modern and safe design.

The Caregivers

Our nursery caregivers include a number of registered nurses, and all are well-trained and committed to providing each child with loving and attentive care. During the 10:30 hour, we also have a physician on call in the building.
