Campus Ministry

The United Methodist Church of Kent warmly welcomes college students into our worship and church activities. Students find involvement in the following areas:

United Christian Ministries

This campus ministry, located in the part of our building nearest the street, sponsors:

  • a Wednesday evening fellowship
  • Bible studies
  • Kappi Phi, a Christian women's sorority
  • mission work projects including an Alternative Spring Break
  • numerous other groups, projects, and opportunities.

The pastor leading UCM is the Rev. Lauren Odell-Scott (673-5687). UCM is an ecumenical campus ministry sponsored by a number of denominations in addition to the United Methodists.

Host Families

Students can become connected with a "host family" that becomes a "family away from home" here in Kent. Interested students should contact the church office (673-5879, or DavePalmer@kentmethodist.org).

University of Life and Alpha

Students are invited to participate in our various opportunities for Adult Spiritual Growth.

Choir

Students can join in singing with our sanctuary choir, which is directed by Dr. Frank Wiley, who is also a music faculty member and director of the orchestra at Kent State University. Students participate in other areas of our music program such as the Adult Bell Choir or the New Spirit contemporary ensemble.

Worship

There are always a number of students in attendance at Sunday worship, and we occasionally have students involved in worship leadership.

Transportation

Students needing a ride to church should contact our bus ministry at (330) 673-5879, ext. 29.
